The Skype's the limit for VoIP
Skype VoIP, the popular technology that allows users to make voice and video calls over broadband internet connections is still in development, announcing two new beta versions.
Recently, Skype announced Skype 4.2 for Windows beta and a new beta build for Nokia Symbian phones. Skype 4.2 beta for Windows desktop users is little more than a tightening-up of the app, reinstating Skype Access – a Wi-Fi hot-spot connector – and call transferring that Skype had removed when overhauling its app and updating to version 4.
In addition to tweaks to the Skype app for the desktop, the company announced it will issue a limited beta release for Nokia's Symbian Series 60 handsets, giving Skype access to 17 Nokia mobile models with more planned.
The program enables mobile users to make free Skype-to-Skype calls over 3G or Wi-Fi on compatible Nokia devices. Nokia Mobile users will also be able to call normal phone lines with the service, as well as send and receive files, and utilize Skype's instant messaging service.
